Mitigation & Adaptation
Integrate Climate supports development initiatives in climate change mitigation, adaptation and resilience.
Mitigation involves human action to reduce our contribution to climate change. It includes strategies to limit and reduce greenhouse gas sources and emissions, and enhance greenhouse gas sinks.
Adaptation consists of actions undertaken to reduce the harmful effects and consequences of climate change on human and natural systems, as well as harness any beneficial opportunities.
Resilience is the ability to resist, survive and recover from the effects of climate change. It refers to the capacity of individuals, communities, institutions and natural environments to dynamically and effectively adapt to shifting climate conditions, while continuing to function at an acceptable level.
Integrate Climate recognises the complex interrelationship between climate change, environmental degradation and adverse societal conditions, such as poverty, inequality and political marginalisation.
We adopt a holistic, cross-sectoral approach that promotes resilience of both natural environments and human societies to climate impacts, and creates positive synergies for climate-change mitigation.
Our work incorporates Ecosystems-Based Approaches, Community-Based Adaptation, gender and advocacy.
